Eric Schlosser’s, Fast Food Nation does a transcendent job at revealing the truth behind the corporate fast food nation and does an excellent job at shocking the people, me for example, who used to think that meat rains from the sky in plastic wrapped Styrofoam trays. ... Unhealthy ingredients and bad customer service are the just the tip of the fast food ice burg.
Schlosser studied the history of the fast food industry dating all the way back to the early 1950’s. The concern during the 1950’s was miniscule with proportion to the size of the industry, but as it grew in the last 1970’s and 80’s, the fast food nation become more of a concern. ... For example, the fast food industry is responsible for the changes in livestock raising conditions and food processing in general. It can also be concluded that the fast food industry has negatively affected other industries and businesses in the United States. ...
Schlosser doesn’t just preach about the fast food itself, but about the employees as well. Often categorized as the most dangerous, self diminishing, unrewarding workplace possible, fast food employees have little incentive to make sure that their food stays clean and healthy.
