Afroman’s song “Because I Got High” is applicable in someway or another to all drug abusers. Afroman sings about how because he got high that he was not able to clean his room, go to class, go to work, go to court and even paying child support. The song talks about a person with a lot of ambitions and goals he has, but due to his abuse it all goes down the drain. I feel that the message Afroman is trying to say through this song is that it’s your choice to smoke and get high. After getting high one must be able to control oneself or accept the consequences. While under the influence most people’s plans for the day usually do not go through. This song makes some important points: that smoking makes one lazy and incoherent at times.
