Topic: Abuse in Home Schoolers General Purpose: To Inform Specific Purpose: After listening to my speech, the audience will be more informed about abuse in home schoolers. Central Idea: Abuse in Home Schoolers goes undetected. Pattern of Organization: Topical Introduction In Iowa, a father is serving life, and a mother goes on trail later this month, for killing their 10-year-old adopted son and burying him at their house. Because they were home schooling, no one even noticed he was missing for more than a year “Home Schooling Nightmares”. Now imagine an educational system that allows some children to be taught by someone who cannot read, write, or even do simple math. It would be an outrage. Yet, that system does exist in Kentucky because the home-schooling laws requires no qualification for people who home school their children (McMannon). These stories both illustrate forms of abuse among home-schoolers. After doing extensive research this morning, I am going to make you aware of the abuse among home schoolers.
