corba

Overview:
Listen up; the word of the day is CORBA. ... The technology that CORBA represents is at the heart of modern distributed computing systems that support application servers running behind the perimeter of the firewall; which is the area known as the middle-tier of the three tier computer architecture. ... And it is all this that makes CORBA more important and possibly a lifesaver to an organization.

The History of CORBA:
The history of CORBA begins in October of 1991, when the OMG introduced their first version of CORBA, CORBA 1. ... But the latest version of CORBA, CORBA 3. ...

CORBA, what it is and what it does:
CORBA is the acronym for Common Object Request Broker Architecture. CORBA is an OMG standard that addresses the problem of interoperability of heterogeneous distributed applications. Which basically means that CORBA describes the facilities for client-server communication and interaction between distributed software objects. What makes CORBA so valuable is that any CORBA-based program can work with any other CORBA-based program no matter what vendor it comes from, what type of computer being used, what operating system in place, what programming language that is used, and what type of network is in place.

CORBA, why it is useful:
CORBA can be beneficial in almost any situation in e-businesses. It is beneficial mainly because of the easy way that CORBA integrates machines from so many vendors, with sizes ranging from mainframes to minis, and desktops to hand-helds, which makes it the middleware of choice for both large and small organizations. CORBA works behind the scenes in the computer rooms of many of the world’s largest websites today. CORBA’s probably most important and most frequent use is in the servers of organizations that have to handle a large number of clients, with very high hit rates and high reliability.
