Genetic Cloning
Genetic cloning has been one of the most talked about scientific breakthroughs in recent years and will continue to be a topic of great debate in the foreseeable future. Cloning has both significant advantages, but also disadvantages and a huge question mark about whether or not it is ethical. Genetic cloning really began in 1962 when Dr Gurdon of Oxford University produced a group of frogs that were genetically identical. Ever since then there has been attempts by people to clone animals, the most recent successful cloning of an animal was Dolly the sheep. Although cloning Dolly caused great uproar, it was a huge scientific leap.
The ethical issues surrounding cloning are almost as complicated as the science itself.
