After reading Doris Pilkington’s Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence, I felt as if it followed the common theme with some of the other stories we have read so far. ... However these three girls who trek along the fence after escaping from their “compound” experience things that make them stronger as people. ... That was “follow the rabbit proof fence”, the first half was a grouping of short stories. They were not as interesting as the second half of the book and I feel I would have enjoyed the story more if there was more description about the escape and the voyage along the fence. ... However I did enjoy reading the novel and learning more of the rabbit proof fence, and I would recommend the novel to a friend for the experience and knowledge absorbed through reading such an Australian classic.
