Math Topics
Problem solving was my second favorite topic in Topics. The problem solving packet helped to brush up on older math skills. The packet also had some problems that actually applied to real life. The oil spill problem was interesting, my group ended up created and advanced funnel using two cups and a paper towel in between to filter the oil. My jet propulsion experiment was a failure, because I used multiple balloons and they began contradicting themselves and stopped dead in its tracks. I was absent for the straw construction. Financing gave me a lot of useful information that I will eventually use when I decided to invest my money. Some types of interest rates I learned were simple interest and compound interest. I thought it was interesting to go onto websites on the internet and calculate the amount of time it would take you to become a millionaire. This information could eventually be very useful. Exploring the graphing calculator was not a very useful subject for me.
