The Chosen Ones Making babies to save lives isn’t a totally bad thing. Sure people are selecting embryos to save lives might seem like we are playing God by marrying genetic testing and IVF to create “designer babies”. The bottom line is that we can help people survive. I think that its acceptable to select and give birth to a child to save another child’s life. No parent should have to see their child in suffering and pain, and if selecting embryos to try and stop or reduce the pain and treatment of the sick child, then the parents should be able allowed to have another child. The positives in this situation are that you will be able to reduce the pain, suffering and treatment, the child could be saved and the if the parents wanted to have another child, they have one. Negatives would be that a lot of people would disagree with the issue of “designer babies”, even though they aren’t designer babies as such, as in the parents want them to have blue eyes and grow however tall. A lot of people would think that this is just the thin end of the wedge.
