The future of our country depends on a young generation, but there are a lot of problems American youth faces today. Illiteracy, fatherless families, teenage pregnancy and drugs are common today. A lot of state, federal, local programs with a good funding are helping young people to overcome these problems, G. Bush raises an important statement, regarding these programs: “The problems lie not in Washington, not just in the amount of tax dollars we spend, it lies in our neighborhoods.” I agree, that fixing our country requires our time, our volunteerism. Volunteering is an American tradition that over the years has made great contribution to our communities, organizations and individuals. There are a couple major benefits of volunteering. Volunteering makes economic contribution to society. Activities taken by the volunteers would otherwise have to be funded by government. Another benefit is that people who need help prefer to be helped by the volunteers, rather then social workers.
