The yellow brick road in the film “The Wizard of Oz” is a significant formal element which creates structure and preferred meaning to the narrative. The yellow brick road takes us through Dorothy’s journey, as it connects the events which allow Dorothy to find her way back home. The meaning of following the yellow brick road is a path of self discovery and a transformation from childhood to maturity. From the moment she lands in Munchkinland and travels down the yellow brick road to meet the Wizard, she begins a journey of self discovery and inner strength to deal with and confront her problems.
     Dorothy’s childish mind is unable to deal with her problems at the beginning of the film. ...
     The yellow brick road functions as a starting place for Dorothy’s journey to begin. It is through the yellow brick road that she will start and end an important process for the narration of the film. The road is the beginning of Dorothy’s adventure in Oz, and the start of her growth process. The road works as a story allowing a beginning and an end to the plot.
      The yellow brick road is what connects Dorothy to the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Lion.
