Filipino and American Cultures In the Filipino society, a person turns a plate of food around as another person is leaving the room as a form of luck. In the American society, a person purchases a lottery ticket hoping to win money. The Filipino and American societies differ greatly in many ways because of the customs and traditions practiced in each culture.
