A clear definition of the word "inept," will be presented in order to recognize the comforters inept tendencies. The three comforters, Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar are inept because they lack personal knowledge and understanding of Jobs situation, leaving them unable to fully comprehend his suffering. The comforters are arrogant and take the side of God over Job.
