Before reading the novel, A Walk to Remember, even I, a hopeless romantic who rarely considers age to be an issue, had a difficult time believing that true love exists in any high romance. However, Nicholas Sparks creates a story so extraordinarily vivid and enchanting that my perception became altered entirely. While reading the novel, many emotions prevailed. I laughed, I cried, I felt for Landon and Jamie in hopes to take a way a portion of the pain that they seem to be experiencing. There are occurrences taking place in the story where I find myself wanting o crawl inside the pages to help the character that I become so attached to. Spark’s intention in writing this novel, in my opinion, is to inspire. I believe he wishes to teach his younger readers about the true meaning of life through Landon and Jamie’s experiences. True love, the backbone of any existence, is expressed often throughout each book that Sparks writes.
