On Dumpster Diving
by: Lars Eighner
When you think about a “Dumpster,” you visualize a place for trash: items you do
not need, things you will not eat, a home for everything unwanted. ...
Eighner gives his experience and learns through “Dumpster” diving what he can
distinguish or even consider what is edible to eat. He also expresses moments of sadness
when he would come across something that seemed to have been valuable at one moment
but is now trash and found its way to the “Dumpster.
