Born Usher (Arthur) Fellig in Zloczew, Austria (now Poland) in 1899, Weegee immigrated to America with his family and grew up in a tenement on Manhattans Lower East Side.
In the early 1920’s Wee Gee got a job at a local news photography company called ACME news pictures as a darkroom technician, sometimes filling in as a news photographer. ... He even went to the point of “Credit Photo by Wee gee the Famous. ...
