Africa Boom, boom, boom: the sound of the drums echoes throughout the Congo. The fire blazes higher and higher, the ceremony has begun. The drums lead the way as the warriors return from the hunt. The men return with the blood of their kill painted on their faces. The women and children gather around the fire, waiting in anticipation for the ceremonial activities to begin. The gantlet is raised high into the air piercing the midnight sky, striking the drums not once, not twice, but three times. The gods of the sky are awoken to the deep sound of the wooden sticks echoing off the cow hid of the drums. The sound brings thunder to the African basin. The vibrations begin to rattle the ground. The women and children hide their eyes in amazement of the sheer power of the drums. The roar of the drums awakens the animals of Africa, letting them know the festivities are going.
