The Matrix: Which Pill? ... ”
~William Hundert (The Emperors’ Club)
The red pill-blue pill decision is a difficult one and greatly depends upon an individual’s character, but I would definitely take the blue pill if offered by Morpheus because the Matrix does allow for freedom of thought, provides a pleasant human-machine relationship, and is not the root cause of human ignorance, as it may seem. ... The Matrix assures this freedom of thought and choice. ... This freedom of thought allows a person to live a life with a deep pang, a splinter in the mind, to understand what the Matrix is, and it also allows a person to live in utter ignorance and bliss. Hence, while living in the Matrix does not allow physical freedom, it does allow for freedom of thought, which is life’s most precious gift. ... The humans in the Matrix are happy—they are either happy because they know they are clear thinkers, questioning the system they live in, or because they do not mind to live in ignorance so long as they are happy.
