What is racial profiling? According to the end racial profiling act of 2001, racial profiling is the practice of a law enforcement agent relying on race, ethnicity, or national origin in selecting which individuals to subject to routine investigatory activities. In my opinion I totally agree with senator Corzine as he states that racial profiling not only is wrong, but there is no evidence that it’s an effective tool in combating crime.
What do people think about racial profiling? I have conducted research on this subject through surveys and interviews and most of the people believe that racial profiling is wrong and unjust. Although the nature of racial profiling has changed from black people being the main targets to Muslims or Arabs, the feelings towards it have not. Reading Being “Muslim in America” really shows in a first person point view how racial profiling affects some people’s life, and the results of the polled people also support my argument.
Methodology
Our class was introduced to racial profiling through a series of interviews and surveys such as the Bill Moyers interview, which we took notes for later analysis. ... We also analyzed a racial profiling cartoon and answered some discussion questions about it. Charting five articles dealing with racial proofing was also one of our tasks, such as “Being Muslim in America” “Islam is Peace” “Racial Profiling” “Racial Profiling in an Age of Terrorism. ... On march 22, 2003 I conducted an interview, composed of ten questions, to my eighteen year old brother called Marco to examine what a person his age thought about racial profiling, and his answers where written in the interview questions paper (see appendix B).
