In the article, “The Dummyfying of Hip Hop America”, the author presents that corporate America’s bent on a conspiracy to subjugate the minds of African Americans by the lyrics of Hip Hop played. The evidence he provides is based on corporate America’s preference for giving airplay to Hip Hop which he says make him want to take a sip of a 40 oz; get back in bed and wait until ray city comes on. (Scott) In contrast he refers to previous Hip Hop pioneers such as the Rakims’, KRS-1 and the Big Daddy Kanes, that are no longer played on the radio and which had a more uplifting lyrical content.
