Title: BriCol Engineering Ltd.

1.     I have been asked to produce a report to BriCol in order to find out possible strategic options that are available to BriCol and possibly save the future of the company.

My report will include options open to BriCol, meaningful conclusions drawn and ends with a justification of a suitable option, or possibly a recommendation. ...

This is where BriCol are affected, as they need to consider their options. Referring to the case study, I have decided to implement the ‘Ansoff Matrix’ method in order for me to find out where BriCol’s future growth can be anticipated. ...
Referring back to the case study, it seems Brian does not want to rely entirely on General Motors (GM), and wants to look to the future of BriCol and feels they need to progress by winning business with Ford and (or) MG Rover. I feel that the strategic options available to BriCol if they were to try and win business from Ford is that Ford already has a policy in place based towards partnership sourcing and one of the groups they wish to develop improved relations is in suppliers, which could be considered as a strength to BriCol.

On the other hand BriCol need to consider the limitation in Ford, as Ford wish to reduce the number of suppliers. As Ford have divided their suppliers into three groups which are:

-     Preferred suppliers
-     Potential suppliers
-     Short-term suppliers

As of the moment BriCol can be considered as potential supplier, we need to consider pros and cons because if BriCol do win business from Ford, Ford may consider BriCol to be one of their preferred supplier, which will also be a strength to BriCol and benefit them as Ford aims to source 100 per cent of materials and components from their preferred suppliers group.

Whereas if Ford considers BriCol to be one of their short-term suppliers it will be a limitation to BriCol as Ford are planning to cut out short-term suppliers entirely.
