Should Rap Be banned?
Ever since its appearance on the music scene the rap industry has been deemed unacceptable at one time or another for many different reasons. These reasons include the explicit lyrics used by the rappers in their songs, the so called “gangsta lifestyle” that many rappers such as Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and P Diddy live, the violence involved in the rap industry, the hatred shown by the rap community towards the police and the graffiti artists and break dancers which are associated to the rap industry. My personal opinion is against the harsh treatment towards rap.
The rap culture was developed during the 70’s in the crime-ridden inner city ghettos of New York known as the Bronx and Brooklyn. ... However it was not long before rap spilled out of the ghettos into the rest of the city and it eventually spread to the California on the west coast. ...
Many people are outraged by the explicit content of the lyrics used by rap artists, these are mainly parents who do not want their children to be exposed this has led to the authorities trying to control the lyrics of famous figures within the rap community. The lyrics that the above-mentioned wish to be banned are firstly the description of shootings and murders the rappers have supposedly been involved in. They want these lyrics banned as they claim that they put the idea of murdering someone into peoples heads, many murders have been blamed on the stories used by rappers in their songs.
