Importance of Warm Up and Cool Down
It is important to always take 10-15 minutes, minimum to warm up and cool down. After warming up you may want to spend some time stretching.
The purpose of a good warm up is to prepare the dancer both physically and mentally for an increase in physical exertion.
A thourough warm-up should, raise the dancer¡¦s heart rate, and so esentially get the oxygenated blood circulating through the body. The warm up should also loosen the joints and warm up the muscles allowing them time enough to become supple and so prevent damage.
