The mission of visiting the Lower East Side Tenement Museum was to, “learn to tolerate and respect historical perspective and interpretation of the variety of immigrant and migrant experience on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, a gateway to America.” It is ironic that I would have to visit the Lower East Side Tenement Museum because till this day my grandparents live inside a tenement. Although our family is living more comfortably than 20 years ago, the tenement helps my family understand the foundation of what we were built from in America. Another irony of visiting the Lower East Side Tenement Museum is that my best friend lives across the street from it.
