In Hawthorne¡¯s The Scarlet Letter proves that true love overcomes all hatred in the puritan society. The love / hate relationships between characters such as Hester, Pearl, Dimmesdale, and Chillingworth displays how love prevails in the end. The love chain between Hester and Dimmesdale was not shattered even when Chillingworth attempted to corrupt the minds of these two. When Pearl disapproves of Dimmesdale, the courage and love for Hester embraces Dimmesdale. And the constant badgering of the villagers towards Pearl accomplishes nothing because the love from Hester prevents any harm to reach Pearl.
