As time evolves so do the roles of the education system. Throughout my years in school, the government has made many significant changes in this realm of provincial power. Although these changes attempt to reflect the differing values and needs of today, most have been poorly implemented. Therefore, an assessment of schooling is an important and necessary task. Areas I wish to comment on include: strengths, weaknesses, and solutions of the Ontario education system. Despite the negativity surrounding alterations of the education system, there are crucial strengths within Ontario schools. The most prominent strength of schooling is the discipline it instills in students. Assignment due dates, attendance, and acceptable behavior are things that prepare students for the demands of life after school. The second major strength of the education system, socialization with peers, is key to the development of a student because meeting new and different types of people broadens ones mind to the world outside the classroom. Extra-curricular activities are another valid strength. These school-managed services provide students with the opportunity to explore and better their skills.
