Powers of the Prime Minister within the British political structure has developed in recent years to such an extent that some political analyst now refer to Britain as having a Prime Ministerial Government rather than a cabinet government. Not only does the Prime Minister hold the position as Head of Government, but holds other offices as well. This can be seen in the legislature, Judiciary and other branches within the government. This brings us to the question of how separated are the powers of government? What does the idea of separation of powers actually mean to the government of the United Kingdom? Are the powers vested to the Prime Minister either by statute, convention or royal prerogative too much?
