Dry Paper Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to show that even though you cannot always see gases they are there and taking up space. Background Info: I know that even though you can't see air, it is there taking up space. I also know that under water, air rises up. I need to know if the amount of time the glass is held at the bottom of the bucket could affect the possibility for the air to escape and water to get in. A second thing that I need to know is if the speed that the glass is pushed under the water affects whether or not air can escape from the glass. Hypothesis: I think that the paper ball is going to be wet when I take it out from the glass, which I would have already taken out from the water. Experiment: The experiment I did was to find out if a piece of balled up notebook paper stuffed in the bottom of a glass would stay dry when the glass was pushed under water.
