Biography on Mother Teresa: Mother Teresa, whose original name was Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu was born on the 27th of August 1910. She was brought into the world in Skopje, Macedonia and her family was of an Albian descent. When she turned twelve she realized that she felt strongly about the call of God. To spread the love of Christ she would have to become a missionary which she was fully aware of. The Sisters of Lereto is an Irish community of nuns with missions in India. She joined the Sisters of Lereto at the age of eighteen leaving her parental home in Skopje, behind. Mother Teresa took her initial vows as a nun on the 24th of May 1931 after a few months of training in a town called Dublin. She then travelled to India making he final vows. St. Mary’s High School in Calcutta is where Mother Teresa taught. From 1931 to 1948 were the years that she taught. She enjoyed her time here but all the poverty and suffering that she witnessed with her own eyes behind the convent walls put deep grief on her and it brought tears to her eyes. Consequently she left the convent school and she received permission from the superiors to go and work for the poorest of the poor in Calcutta. She had no money or funds but she still started an open-air school for the slum children. Luckily she was quickly joined with financial support and voluntary helpers. On the 7th of October 1950 Agnes started her own order “The missionaries of Charity” with permission from the Holy see. The reason of this task was so she could love and look after persons that others were not prepared to care for. The society in 1965 became an International religious family by a decree of Paul Pope the third. In 1971 Mother Teresa was awarded the Pope John XXIII. She was awarded the Kennedy prize and she also received the Good Samaritan award. In 1979 she got the Nobel Peace Prize. Mother Teresa has received so many awards and prizes for all the good things and deeds she did for many people. She was a wonderful woman, a Saint if you will. Everything she did was good. The former Soviet Union and the Eastern European countries are the society of missionaries all over the world. These missionaries do all sorts of magnificent jobs for the poorest of the poor such as providing effective help and medical attention. They also undertake relief work for natural disasters such as floods and they also care for refugees. This happens in a number of countries like Africa, Asia, Latin America etc. There are also houses from the order in countries such as Europe, Australia and North America.
