Exam #2 Question #2: Subculture is when a certain behavior distinguishes a culture from another culture. Therefore, this behavior is forming a subculture. That certain behavior could be doing graffiti on the walls. This behavior can come from a delinquent group. Another behavior could be immigrating, which is often done by Mexicans, among others. The delinquent group and the Mexicans are both subcultures. Question #3: The type of mentally ill people that tend to get arrested could be schizophrenics, substance abusers, those with personality disorder, manic depression, delusions and hallucinations. Question #4: The legal definition of insanity is that a defendant is not responsible for a criminal conduct “if at the time of such conduct, as a result of a mental disease or defect, he lacks substantial capacity either to appreciate the criminality of his conduct or to conform his conduct to the requirement of the law.” The following link will direct you to an article titled “Mom makes insanity plea.” Apparently, due to a severe mental defect, this person did not know what she was doing was wrong.
