Terrorism and The United States

     The United States has been subject to numerous acts of terrorism over the years, and this has led to an unpredictable state of existence for its’ citizens. ... This current event helps to demonstrate that the unpredictable events that occur in the United States endanger the citizens of this liberal society. The purpose of mentioning the sniper incident is to exhibit that the people of the United States are at risk of being terrorized.
In the past ten years, terrorism has been on the rise in the United States of America. Terrorism is a scare technique used to enact fear within an individual through the use of intimidation for the soul purpose of ruling an individual or territory . Of the numerous acts of terrorism that have been committed against the US, three events stand out due to the magnitude of destruction that occurred in each one. This paper will argue that terrorism has led to many changes within the US government, with references to the World Trade Center (WTC) bombing of 1993, the 1995 bombing of the Alfred. ... The significance of these three particular acts of terrorism is that they occurred on US soil and involved government buildings. ... The US must strengthen its’ anti-terrorism policies to try to discourage the acts of terrorists which will continue to jeopardize the security of the people and continue to make life in the America unpredictable. ... It would be his first opportunity to deal with an act of terrorism by attempting to identify the mastermind behind the attack. ... Along with trying to find the culprit who was behind this act of terrorism, Clinton would have to make policy changes within his new republican government in order to actively deal with this level of violence. ... The senate put forth legislation to tighten up security at all major airports, and to make sure that customs officers could access information about visitors to the United States . ... There were other sections added to the constitution to deal with the acts of terrorism also known as the Anti-terrorism policy.
In 1996, Congress passed the Antiterrorism Act that disallows the sale of defense articles or services to any foreign country that the President determines isn’t cooperating with the United States antiterrorism efforts . ... It was not until the G-8 summit of that year that allied nations (France, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, etc) came to an agreement with this section of legislation imposed by the US Congress in order to aid the American effort against terrorism . This Anti-Terrorism Act of 1996 was motivated by the outcome of the WTC bombing, and it was an indication of terrorism becoming a global problem that had to be dealt with in a productive fashion by all major democratic nations due to the US reaching outside its national sphere to other nations to incorporate the same sort of government change. This Anti-Terrorism act was constituted to combat external and internal acts of terrorism. ... President Clinton had to act accordingly to deal with this catastrophic act of terrorism that had taken place on American soil. The culprits behind this act of terrorism were eventually arrested and sentenced, but the government had to ensure that there would not be a repeat of this by introducing new legislation to discourage the actions of terrorists.
