In John Knowles’ A Separate Peace there were three wars illustrated, World War Two, Finny and Gene, and Finny vs. Reality. They were all broadly shown and described throughout the book. The three wars all had an equal threat and were equally dangerous. World War II was a great factor in the novel and brought reality to life. Students were often scared to go off to war. They were all faced with the reality that they may not be coming home from the war. Even though many of them were frightened and did not want to go, they all began getting ready for war, the upper class students were because they were of age. They would all do different stunts go prepare such as jumping out of a tree pretending it was a tank or ship. The students at Devon, were faced with harder times at school, because the war needed all the money and they could not have all the luxurious they were used to having. This war had an impact on many peoples lives even the ones that were not taking place in it, whether it was family member, friends or kids at school it made a great impact on everyone.
