The Roaring Twenties During the 1920’s, the nation went through many changes. These changes dealt with the economy and social aspects. Many of these changes were good steps to improving the United States, but there were some changes which caused controversy and instability in the nation. Such changes dealt with employment, inventions, and social changes. Overall, America was slouching towards Utopia and becoming the “richest society the world had ever seen.” The U.S. experienced a massive amount of immigrants from all over the world. Around 1914, about 1.2 million immigrants entered the U.S. It was not until the 1920’s in which the U.S. began to restrict immigration. It set quotas for many nations and when the immigrant restrictions were taking effect in 1920, the number of annual immigrants reduced to 160,000. One of the major factors which influenced the growing economy of the nation, was mass production.
