In Past wars the American press relied on newspapers and radio to play the biggest role in bringing new events to the public. ... During the first Gulf War cable news became a large factor in the media’s coverage of the war. CNN earned a lot of respect in the industry as having the best up to date converge of the war. This however is still not enough to satisfy the needs of the public during the second Gulf War. We now are seeing new media like never before.
The media has always developed new ways of covering wars. Radio and newspapers carried most of the weight during World War I and II. In Korea and Vietnam television played a new role, in bringing war images to the world.
