The typical American child and teenager have access to one of the most advanced information systems in world. The wide array of topics available at their fingertips is amazing. Any topic they could ever need to research for school has unlimited information just waiting for them to search for it. Any hobby or interest they may acquire has not only information, but also often time’s mailing lists or group discussions if they wish to participate. Even the chance to meet new people in other countries and learn about new cultures is possible. It is information “highway” some say, a place that can take you anywhere you want to go. Where is this magical, wonderful tool you ask? Nothing new in our day and age, it’s available at offices, schools, libraries, and homes’, even shopping malls. Almost anywhere you go, you’ll find a place to dial up, down load, share, swap, message and email all on the internet. The Internet is a safe tool for children, and the dangers of pornography and child predators in the on line world is very limited, and the help of new and better filters is availible. Many people may try to say the Internet is a dangerous place for children and teens to play, and this information system isn’t fit for children and crimes can go on unchecked and unpunished. Unregulated they even say. I on the other hand would like to shed light on new precautions being taken to protect children. Measures to keep criminal behavior off the Internet, and punish any one who does commit Internet crimes.
