In the beginning of “Oedipus the King”, he wanted to know who was responsible in the murder of Laius. ... Oedipus begs this blind prophet named, Tiresas, to reveal who the person was because the prophet knows the truth about the story. Oedipus claims that he longs to know the truth, but the prophet says that seeing the truth only brings one pain. ... In a way, the prophet is hinting Oedipus that it might be him. Once Oedipus hears this, he gets upset and doesn’t believe what the prophet is saying.
