The Heart
The heart lies in the chest cavity beside the left lung; the heart is what keeps us alive and keeps the transfer of oxygen throughout the body. As age becomes an issue as well as in activity an illness, the heart begins to decay and become weak leaving it vulnerable to disease itself. The most common disease of the heart is the “heart attack”; a heart attack (a myocardial infarction, or MI) is the death of heart muscle, caused by a blockage in one of the coronary arteries. There is also another disease of the heart is called cardiomyopathy, which causes the heart muscle to become weak. As the diseases become more aware of the doctors become more knowledgeable and can start testing and treating those that may have a heart attack, we have such medical advances such as an EKG or ECG. ... A pacemaker is also another technical jump for science and health of the heart. The Pacemaker is a sophisticated electronic device that does two things: 1) It analyzes the function of the heart’s own electrical system. 2) When necessary, it sends tiny, precisely timed electrical signals to the heart, to correct certain abnormalities in the heart’s electrical system.
The most common heart problem is the heat attack, A heart attack occurs when a blood clot forms at the site of an atherosclerotic plaque in a coronary artery. ... The heart muscle being supplied by that artery immediately becomes starved for oxygen (i. ... , the muscle becomes ischemic), and if blood flow is not restored within a few hours, the heart muscle dies. ... After a heart attack has happened to the victim there are consequences and sometimes that person might now live. When a portion of heart muscle dies, several bad things can happen. If the amount of damage is large enough, the patient can develop immediate heart failure and shock. “shock,” they are talking about extremely low blood pressure, caused by the heart’s inability to pump sufficient blood to the body’s tissues when heart failure occurs immediately after a heart attack, there is an extremely high risk of early death. If the amount of heart damage is only mild or moderate, heart failure does not occur – at least, not right away. However, in the effort to heal itself, the heart goes through a period of “remodeling,” in which the heart enlarges and changes shape. This remodeling eventually leads to a decrease in cardiac pumping efficiency, and can lead to a more gradual onset of heart failure months or years after the heart attack.
