Children’s Rights As old as we think we are at sixteen, we are still considered minors and we come under children's rights. All children, which means all people under the age of 18, come under the international rights treaty called the convention of the rights of the child. This treaty has been ratified in every country but two. The national governments has committed themselves to ensuring children’s rights and are ready to be held responsible for any matter concerning this topic. The children's rights are based on legality and traditions and are not able to be negotiated. The rights of the child are basic human rights that children without discrimination have. These rights include: Rights to survival, to develop the fullest protection from harmful influences, abuse, exploitation, and to participate in family, cultural, and social life. The purpose of this treaty is to improve a child's life, help the child develop, and to protect his or her dignity.
