My alarm went off at 6:30 a.m. this morning, and the world of Mepham High School students was turned upside down once more: the youngest of the accused football players would testify against his friends for the chance to be tried as an adult. At 6:30 this evening, an alarm went off in my head as the news reporter told the world that the Mepham football players would all be tried as juveniles. A sobbing aunt spoke of the injustices to her nephew, of the unfairness: the maximum time the accused could expect to serve if found guilty at all would be until age twenty-five.
