Lyondell Europe outsources execution of new floating stock Styrene Distribution network to D Rijke Vloeistoftransport B.V. and Haesaerts Intermodal B.V. November 14, 2003 -- Lyondell Europe today announced the signing of two contracts which will allow the company to distribute styrene monomer from their manufacturing joint venture with Bayer at the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam to their European land-based customers in a completely new manner. According to Marc Quintus, Lyondell's Director Supply Chain Europe, “The key change in this new dedicated container-hub-based distribution network is that we disconnect our customer sales orders from the plant loading orders. This not only allows Lyondell to optimize our loading facilities but also allows us to schedule our deliveries in the most efficient manner using other modalities such as inland barging and rail.” He further adds that this approach is both cost-competitive with direct road deliveries but offers many commercial and environmental advantages.
