Saint Martin De Porres is the story of a great saint that was known as the little doctor of Lima, Peru. ... At age fifteen Martin began his life at Santo Domingo as a servant and later became a lay brother. ...
When Martin de Porres was growing up in Lima, Peru, his father was often away from home. Because his mother had little money and he and his sister were black they often had very little food and never had new clothes, but this did not bother Martin. Even when they were hardly surviving with the little that they had, once the poor beggars of Lima were given the money Martin was to buy his family’s bread with, even knowing that his mother would be mad with him.
