Pablo Picasso
Pablo Picasso was born October 25, 1881. He was the son of Maria Picasso Lopez and Jose Ruiz Blasco, an artist and teacher at San Telmo school of arts and industrial design. ... In July 1895, the Picasso family spent their summer in Malaga, and stayed in Madrid for a short time. Picasso visited the Prado Museum there, and discovered the canvases of famous artists like Velazquez, Goya and Surbaran. Picasso was only fourteen when he painted, the “shoeless girl”, which was is first oil piece. At the age of fifteen, Picasso was excepted into the advanced classes at the Royal Academy of Art in Barcelona. ...
From 1901 to 1903 Picasso went through his first truly original style, which is known as the blue period. Using only the color blue, Picasso depicted thin and pitiful figures whose body language and clothing depicted the poor quality of their social status.
