In this case study analysis entitled, “In-Vitro Fertilization and a Candidate’s Family Secret,” Case 5-3 in the textbook, I shall argue that the Channel 3 news station should run the story about political candidate Charlotte Russell, and the particular way that she had decided upon, to conceived her child. ... As the end of her first term was coming to a halt, Russell gave birth to a baby girl—but it wasn’t until later that it was discovered she had become pregnant through In Vitro Fertilization, which was a procedure that severely went against the Catholic religion and its belief system, as well as her own. ... This brings up a point that Baker made known to Alvarez—as an option in the in-vitro fertilization process, there is an additional process called “stem cell research” that involves using untouched embryos. ... To explore the background of Catholicism briefly, this religion are entirely against the procedure of in-vitro fertilization; it is too much of a controversial risk for the Catholic Church to take on. This doesn’t necessarily mean that every single Catholic in the world today is going to follow Catholic doctrine word for word and not be able to have their personal opinions about certain things, for example, this in-vitro fertilization procedure. ...
As Alvarez explains in the text, there is no doubt that this information is newsworthy for the fact that Charlotte Russell is the first politician ever to have a child through in vitro fertilization, especially while holding office.
