Look in any dictionary and punk will be there with a plethora of meanings. However none of these definitions touch upon the punk musical revolution. No one knew what punk was, no one from any other previous generation would understand it, and it was like nothing else ever seen. Upon its inception punk was considered, rebellious, dangerous, and a dark spot in society. ... However, it wasn’t so much the music that made the punk scene what it was. ...
The Scene

The Bands
The Ramones

The Sex Pistols
Bringing up punk and leaving out The Sex Pistols is a nearly impossible feat. According to Marcus Greil no other punk band was able to become as internationally known as they were.
