A Tale of Two Cities “It was the best of times it was the worst of times” is how Dickens starts off his masterpiece, A Tale of Two Cities. It is a classic story that occurs during the French Revolution. Although it was first written as a weekly installment for a magazine it is now a classic novel. The story starts off as Mr. Jarvis Lorry rides in a wagon heading to Paris on a business trip. He works at Tellson’s Bank headquarters in London, England. He goes there to meet Miss Lucie Manette. He tells her that he plans to recall to life her Father Dr. Manette who was a former Basitle captive who is now in the top room of a wine shop in Paris. Dr. Manette leaves for England with Mr. Lorry, Lucie, and her caretaker Miss Pross. When they get back Mr. Lorry and Lucie are called to court to testify at court. Mr. Charles Danary was charged with treason against England. Mr. Danary rode in the same boat as Mr. Lorry and the Manettes on their way back towards England. Mr. Danary’s lawyers, Stryver, an ambitious and proud lawyer, and Mr. Sydney Carton an alcoholic who works for Stryver, luckily get him acquitted. The Manettes, Mr. Lorry, Mr.
