Interpersonal Romance Love is one of the most important qualities of an interpersonal relationship. For most people it is considered something that all are born for. “It is the principle of existence and its only end” (Devito 287). Having a romantic relationship can be very difficult to maintain because of all the rules that you should follow. The main reason that relationships work is the fact that the couple tries to make them last. Although most people don’t pay attention to the smaller things in a relationship, it generally follows a certain set of steps in certain relationships. I have been in a relationship with my girlfriend for two years and we have seen the best of times and the worst of times. The certain type of love relationship that we have is the pragma type. This is where each of us is practical and seeks a relationship that will work and we share a compatibility in which our wishes and desires will be fulfilled. Most of the time it turns out how we both want it to. Communication is a big factor in a love relationship. Throughout my relationship with my girlfriend, communication has been a problem for the both of us. We do not want to hurt each others feelings so we hide things and keep them a secret. Eventually they always come out. I have learned during my time with Lindsay that hiding thoughts is the same as lying to her. Communicating to my loved one in the beginning can make me change or completely eliminate all of my publicly taboo adaptors.
