You would think that a one’s salary indicates one’s responsibility and influence in society. Is that how it works in America? Absolutely not! In fact, in some cases, it’s the exact opposite. Professional athletes make at least ten times as much that of the average American. The minimum pay in the National Football League is $375,000/year. The average American makes approximately $30,000/year. That’s over ten times as much as the average American. Football players only have to “work” sixteen days a year. I realize they must also train in the off-season and go to charity events, but for that much money you’d think they’d at least be good role models. However, the former Super Bowl’s Most Valuable Payer, Ray Lewis, was put on trial for being involved in a murder.
