Fugitive Slave Law
The 1850’s in the United States was a time when many things happened and many things were changing. ... Enclosed in this compromise was the infamous fugitive slave law, a law directed towards African Americans whom were either slaves and/or free men. This law tested blacks in a way that they had never been tested before and for some, unleashed a rage that should have never been unleashed.
The fugitive slave law was the most notorious and most devastating thing to happen to African Americans at this time. This law stated many things; one of them was that, it was illegal for northerners to harbor, aid, or assist fugitive slaves. ... The law was not directed just to the commoners, but also to the federal marshals.
