A keyboard is perhaps the most commonly extended computer accessory in
todays world. A Keyboard is a basic mechanism to transfer the substantial action into the
computer as an electronic Data Signal. ... Unidentified signals are simply ignored by the
system setup, and so, its never difficult to use an advanced featured
Keyboard to be equipped on a system. ...
Keyboard layout still remains relatively similar since it was invented, and
the most common change noticeable is the addition of keys and new advanced
featured Keyboards. The most commonly used keyboards are as follows:
" 101-key Enhanced keyboard
" 104-key Windows keyboard
" 82-key Apple standard keyboard
" 108-key Apple Extended keyboard
There are also custom Keyboards especially built for portable computers like
laptops, palmtops, handheld computers, and etc. the key arrangements on these
sorts of keyboards are somewhat different from standard keyboard layout. A
typical keyboard has four basic features as follows:
" typing keys
" numeric keypad
" function keys
" control keys
The section of the letter keys is known as typing keys and laid out on the
same pattern of a typewriter. ... Jamming is no longer an
issue, but then again keyboard manufacturers developed the same lay out
because the QWERTY configuration is long established and people are
accustomed to it as standard. ... A large part of the data is numbers and so a set of
seventeen keys was added to the keyboard. ...
Function and Control Keys were introduced to the computer world by IBM,
arranged in a line across the top of the keyboard and could assign specific
commands. ... With time
and technology electronic container for keyboard got smaller, and the design
got more practical instead of wasting a large expensive circuit board. ... The
computer can replace the character map different from the keyboard, and this
is done often when language doesnt match English.
