As I walked through those doors, I felt alone and scared. I couldn’t remember if my Mema knew how much I loved her. Actually, its not so much that she did or did not know, but rather did I tell her enough?
I saw my Papaw. ... I just wanted to run to him and have him hold me. I wanted him to tell me it would be O. ... , but I couldn’t stand to look at him. I was scared to go any farther; scared of what might be waiting for me; scared of the dark cold look in my father’s eyes. I followed my mother into the room, waiting for someone to grab me and shake me to wake me up. But, of course, I had no such luck.
