Similarities between A Bronx Tale and Niccolo Machiavelli”s The Prince
Niccolo Machiavelli’s article called the Prince is a piece dealing a lot with the idea and notion of power. “ The Prince” is a letter to “His Magnificence Lorenzo de’ Medici”, the man in power by a man that wants to be in power himself, Machiavelli. ... The characters in a Bronx Tale that are significant to the ideas of Machiavelli are quite relevant. The movie is about a young Italian child named Cologiero, growing up in the Bronx. ... In The Prince, Machiavelli speaks about how killing people in defense of your land or territory is acceptable “anyone who finds himself with territory in a region with different customs from those of his hereditary possessions should make himself the leader and protector of neighboring power who is weaker than he is, and should set out to weaken his powerful neighbors”(Machiavelli p12).
